Mini-Workshops  [3.5-4 hrs]
A Day of Dance!

"Nour el Ain" choreography  3:26" -  Upbeat Spanish-flavored Oriental to the popular song by Amr Diab . Fun and Sassy!

"Bir Demet" choreography  3:11"  - A lovely flowing veil dance routine. 

"Ala Nar"  3:00" - Cane choreography

"Mouna"  3:00" - Contemporary Oriental choreography, upbeat! 

"Ya Wahshini" 3:10" - Egyptian-style Raqs Sharqi choreography - traveling combos, fluidity and spatial awareness

"Be One With The Veil" - Control, application, wraps, and combos.  What kind of veils? and other topics.
Combine with "Sali" or "Layali Charrk" for a full day.

"Taxims, Tension, and Tsiftitellis" - A "toolkit" for taxims and chiftitellis- understanding them, the instrumentation, and what to do with them.  
With or without choreographed routine.

"Smooth Operator" - Progressing from one step to another smoothly, without a break in the dance, creates musical continuity and prevents that "deer in the headlights" look!  Builds appropriate and smooth transitions between dance movements into your own dance or
gain new insights into someone else's.    Includes combos.  With or without routine.

* Saidi Basics - Combos and intro to Saidi rhythm and dance culture and context.   Cane technique and Sagat / Zils optional. 
Combine w/ Ala Nar Cane routine  for full day. 

* Folkloric Stylings and  Your Dance  -  Don't' miss these traditional fun elements in your dance- especially when they are int he music!
Combos and transitions, rhythms.   Add a routine for a full day.

 

 

 

One Day Workshops    [Full day 4.5 -  5  hrs] 
Choreography, technique, combos, discussion

While all levels will benefit from this instruction, I recommend that beginners have at least 6-8 wks of dance

" Baladna el Genawy"  4:30" - A sassy Saidi-Oriental choreography

" Layali Charrk"  3:58" - A George Abdo favorite with dramatic flair, fun and veil.

" Laylet Hob"   6:00" -  An Om Koulsoum classic.  Elegant and timeless. 

* Folkloric and Baladi in Your Oriental - Variety is the spice but ignoring or missing these elements of the music may be the difference between memorable or not! Combos and transitions, rhythms.  With combos and routine.

* The Secrets of Classic Egyptian Raqs Sharqi -  The moves that make them dancers!  Review, theory, and application of classic Egyptian Oriental  style, signature-movements and the music to go with it. - includes multi-media presentation.  Combos and technique.

Full Weekend Workshops  
2-4 day intensive topics [may include multi-media presentations]

* The Classic 5-Part American Bellydance Routine  13-15 min.  Appropriate for all audiences.  Caberet, Triberet, Tribal Fusion, etc.

* The Classic 7-Part American Bellydance Routine  15-20 min.   Appropriate for all audiences.  Caberet, Triberet, Tribal Fusion, etc.

Classic American combos mixed with the framework for the choreography  =  a work of dance art.   Each choreographed section of the routine is presented individually and then combined applying transition and performance techniques.  Both programs use classic American Bellydance music from artists such as George Abdo, Raja, The Sultans, Eddie Kochak and others. Includes historical perspective and musical context.
